Wispr Flow: Best AI tool for dictation

A few days back, Andrej Karpathy, the OG AI scientist, coined a term called “Vibe coding”. This has taken the internet by storm. Now, non-programmers can also write code without understanding the programming language.

What is Vibe coding?
- In simple terms, Vibecode means you, your LLM, and you dictating your LLM to write code.
- If the LLM makes some mistakes, you re-dictate it to write the correct version until you get the correct version of the code you wish to have.
- This cycle goes on, and you finally get your code without knowing the programming language and without touching your keyboard.
In this post, I will share my experience with Vibe coding using Cursor.ai, the most popular AI IDE, and Wispr Flow, an AI dictation tool that has made my life very easy.
You must know what is Cursor.ai by now. Also, I have already covered it in quite some depth in my previous videos and posts. Let’s straight away jump onto Wispr Flow.
What is Wispr Flow?

Wispr Flow is an AI dictation tool designed to make users talk to his/her computer.

My experience with Cursor.ai and Wispr Flow for Vibe Coding
By now, we all know that Cursor.ai is the best AI IDE present, so I won’t be discussing much about it. But to my surprise, Wispr Flow was the underrated name.
Here are some instances where Wispr Flow completely amazed me while using it, in my own words:
- Coding with Cursor.ai:
I was blown away when I used Wispr Flow to dictate code instructions like, “Write a machine learning pipeline to train the Titanic dataset using SVMs.” It captured every word perfectly, and Cursor.ai generated the code exactly as I wanted. I didn’t even need to touch my keyboard! - Editing Code on the Fly:
When I wanted to update the code to compare SVM with Random Forest and KNN, I just said, “Update the code to compare SVM with Random Forest and KNN as well.” Wispr Flow transcribed it flawlessly, and Cursor.ai made the changes instantly. It felt like magic. - Writing Emails:
I tried writing an email to myself, and Wispr Flow nailed it. I said, “Hey Data Science in Pocket team, I’m loving Wispr Flow a lot. I wish you to check it out. The dictation quality is great, and the error rate is low.” It even handled Hindi perfectly when I switched languages mid-email. - Drafting Blogs on Medium:
I dictated an entire blog post about “What is Vibe Coding?” and Wispr Flow captured every word. I said, “Vibe coding is a new term coined by Andrej Karpathy. It refers to not touching your keyboard and letting AI and audio software help you throughout.” It was so smooth and natural — I felt like I was just talking to a friend. - Whispering Mode in Quiet Spaces:
I tested the whispering mode, and it worked like a charm. Even when I spoke softly, it picked up everything accurately. It’s perfect for when I’m in a quiet environment and can’t speak loudly.
Concluding,
Vibe coding is a thing, to be honest, and with the coming of tools like Cursor.ai and Wispr Flow, it becomes even stronger. There is no denying that you should be coding yourself as well, but now a bigger group of people can code out very easily with just natural language dictation. And with such a big AI scientist betting on this concept, I feel people should try it out at least once.
