Qwen-Chat rivals Google Veo2 for free AI video generation
Just a few days back, Google announced a surprising move, making Veo2 their state-of-the-art AI video generation model free of cost for all users in AI Studio.

Now to rival that, Alibaba’s Qwen has also released Qwen 2.5 Max, which can now generate AI videos that are also free and that are unlimited on their Qwen-Chat platform.

I tested out both the platforms of video generation, and here are my findings:
- Google Veo2 in AI Studio provides you with just two generations per account per day. While I didn’t hit any limits while generating 4 to 5 videos on the Qwen Chat platform. Hence, in terms of free usage, Qwen Chat has an upper hand any day on Google Veo2.
- The quality of the video generated is at par with both models. Google Veo 2 was good for video generation in general themes, while Qwen-Chat outperformed Veo 2 on text generated within videos.
- Qwen-Chat is really slow compared to Google Veo2, hence, it takes about 5–6 minutes compared to a minute for Google Veo2 to generate videos.
- Login can be glitchy for Qwen-Chat, which is seamless in the case of AI Studio for Google Veo2.
In all QwenChat video generation looks okay compared to Google Veo2, but given it is unlimited, it has a huge advantage over Google Veo2 in AI Studio.
Why should you try out the free AI video generation?
AI video generation requires a lot of GPU computation. Hence, for the general folks, it is just impossible to run video generation models on their local systems.
